Reptile Decor & Tank Decorations

Vivariums, heating equipment, thermostats, thermometers, lighting, food dishes, plants, and reptile decor are all a part of creating the proper environment for your pet reptile. You also cannot forget the reptile substrate to create this natural and healthy world. Like your other choices reptile decor products come in several varieties, which we will examine here.

ARTIFICIAL HIDES:
Artificial hides are products you can buy for burrowing or desert reptiles. Any reptile that likes to burrow will enjoy having the option of the artificial hide. These products create a reptile style cave for them to crawl in or under. For caves you have small to extra large sizes to accommodate almost all reptiles. There are also dens. The dens are different from caves in that they have a different opening and tend to be larger inside. There are natural tan caves or a granite style rock cave. To add to the decor in hides there is the rock outcrop for reptiles to hide or climb around. The artificial hides can look like granite, lava, sandstone or other naturally occurring rock; however, they are made from resins and plastics to make them light weight and easy to clean.

ARTIFICIAL VINES AND BRANCHES:
The artificial hides mentioned above are great for desert reptiles or those who are not arboreal in their natural habitats. For arboreal reptiles that live in forests or rainforests you have other reptile decor products like the artificial vines and branches. The vines look like a natural jungle vine of brown. These can be used to climb by the reptiles or to wrap around like they are in a tree. The branches of course also offer this same appearance. The branches tend to be a little larger, but both objects can hang from the roof of the terrarium as climbing toys.

Along with artificial reptile decor products there are all natural vines, branches, and hides. You have a choice to make, but remember the artificial options tend to be easier to clean and thus better for special hygiene environments.

BACKGROUNGS:
Backgrounds for a terrarium will make the vivarium look more natural to your pet reptile. Backgrounds are plastic sheets that have pictures of natural habitats on them. For example a desert background would have sand, cactus, and other native objects in the photo. Rock backgrounds and many others exist to make the interior seem like it is larger and have more plants than it might. The backgrounds can be attached to the outside of the terrarium glass. Other options within reptile decor products are egg laying and shedding refuges. If you breed your pet reptiles you would want your reptiles to feel comfortable in laying their eggs, even if you eventually remove them for their own incubator. The refuges allow your snake or other reptile to go inside and feel private. The shedding refuges help your snake shed their skin to make ready for the new one. They can crawl through, under, or just rub against them in order to lose their old skin.
